Celebrating 20 Years as Alberta's Leading Prop House

This year RED Events is celebrating a huge milestone! We are Alberta’s premiere Prop House for the special events, television and film industries with a wild and crazy collection of props, but it wasn’t always that way.

Way back in 2000, Gill Boyd had a dream of offering incredible modern wedding decor for Calgary brides. Working long hours outside of her daytime job as an event planner for the Calgary Stampede, she began Spoilt Red Productions with her sister Lissa. Innovation, creativity, and style were hallmarks of a Spoilt Red Wedding; They were the first company in Calgary to own their own chair covers - you can see how far Calgary has come in the time since!

As Spoilt Red grew steadily, an incredible opportunity presented itself in 2006-. Gaps the Prop Shop was up for sale. The opportunity to expand beyond weddings was irresistible- the possibilities were endless! Corporate Decor, set decor and prop rentals, themed events, theme weddings,- it was a marriage made in heaven.

In late 2007, fate brough even more changes. Bobby Vanonen, an incredible production designer, was referred to Gaps- he had heard they needed an artist with fabrication abilities. In their first meeting, Gill threw a curve ball at Bobby- she needed at 16 foot tall apple tree built for an event- in 4 days! Unflinching, Bobby built her the tree- and hasn't stopped trying to impress her since... including a trip down the aisle together on New Years of 2011.  

Locals say that Calgary grew up in the 2000's. and RED Events is a company that has grown up with the times. We provide world class decor and design, a massive selection of props from small tabletop items to complete sets and the ability to create anything you can imagine..

Now, after 20 years, RED Events is excited to begin the next chapter of our business story and we can’t wait to bring you along for the ride.
